Default What would you do?

This morning I was out in the wind and rain, well any way I was trying to do some still hunting. I kicked out a deer but didnt see what it was just saw a tail but it was alone (i think). Well on my way back I passed threw the same area there is 3 pine trees about 4ft. when I went threw in the morning they were fine when I came back threw one was torn to shreds and I know it wasnt like that when I went threw. I am thinking of sitting off this spot tommorrow, what would you do. There are alot of rubs no scrapes though. I think he is holding up there. Think its worth giving it a shot (its my last day gotta work sat.) Also its very thick briars, laural, ect... The thing that concerns me its close to a road and parking lot on game lands. Do ya think he is holding up there or just passing threw.

With the wind and rain,I think he may have been using the pines as cover, but who knows-he may be using that as his main bedding area too.I'd hunt the area.At least you know there's a buck around somewhere.

Like JimPic said its probably his bedding area for getting out of the weather.

Don't be concerned about it being close to a parking lot. Many people pass the area thinking that a buck wouldn't use this area do to being to close to the road or parking area.

My hunting for the last two years have all been about 300 yards in from a main road. One reason is do to a car accident as I couldn't go farther but another reason is because I have been finding a lot of deer and some really nice bucks in this area that is close to the road. Deer know the areas that don't get hunted a lot and make it a safe area because many hunters just pass that area thinking that they have to go a mile in or whatever. You don't have to go that far. I have been seeing some great bucks just 300 yards in and in the evening I see car headlights going by. So don't worry get there early and give it a shot.

Good luck

Brian

Thanks guys I gave it a shot, ended up not seeing anything except 2 hunters walking threw. I am guessing if they werent there I might have saw something. I was really checking it out before I left for the day. I counted 27 rubs I this is in about 100 square yards. I will give it a shot agian in the second bow season. There wont be to many people out there then.
