Default Tough hunting in NE PA

The last two days have been exciting weather. Monday it started at 40 degrees and dropped into the 30's with high winds and snow. Yesterday I went out late in the day, temps were around 20 with winds chills below zero, plus snow. I have over an inch now and temps hit 14 last night, plus still windy.

I didn't get a shot off on my Monday morning and saw only one deer. I went out again at 2 pm and shot a doe at 4:10 pm. She was sneaking through the swamp when I saw her. I took a shot, missed, and shot agin and hit her through the front legs and heart. Nice sized deer too, no pics sorry.

I went out again yesterday, with my white suit on and sat near a funnel and swamp. Saw nothing moving at all.

Next week I saw the forecast we should have more seasonal temps and low winds. But this weekend we could get a Noreaster.

I hope everyone's hunting is going well???

Tomster I left NE PA last night man was it cold and I mean cold
Thankgod I scored on monday morning at 8:15 am I drop a huge 8 pointer with a 19 inch inside spread with my 54 cal. thunderhawk Funny I seen him on the way in about 75 yards off the road bedded down with three or 4 does but at 6 :40 am all I seen was the antlers could never make out how many points he had if there was no 3 points on one one side deal I would of shot him right there on the spot. Now at at 8am I see movement in the thickets to my left about 100 yards down the ridge to my left said to my self I must be seeing things again so just relaxing looking around I then see a antler comming up the ridge at about 75 yards right under me that was the buzzed 8 pointer all by himself **** I removed the saftey off the thunderhawk he looked right at me (don't cough now or sneeze his eyes are glued on me
Ok now he buts his head down and start to walk good broadside shot the only problem he won't come to a dead stop slow walk I lead the shot a little pull the trigger around at 75 yards mark **** he make a 180 like superman said to myself o boy got problems now.I reloaded went to the spot I shot him there was blood and bubbles in the blood ok I no now it is a lung shot smoke a butt maybe he would bed down pick up the trail was hard to track a little blood spots at a time on the ground loosing it from time to time all of a sudden a another hunter say he right over here I have to take my hat's off to the guy who was a real sportman because I told him if you want the deer he yours he drop right under were the guy was posted .I think what happen was the shot entered the last 3 ribs (high)caught the lungs and all the blood was in the chest area and there was only one hole in the deer that made it hard to track.I will post the picture later today first have to take care of cutting the deer up and cleaning up my guns and gear

Congrats lonewolf,

I have been hunting for several years now and still have not gotten a nice buck other than a spike a few years ago. I mostly only see does during hunting season, plus the occausional spike which I can not touch now.

I did see a 9 pointer during early muzzleloader plus I have several scrapes near my stand, but I have not had a shot at anything that nice. Also I saw a six pointer at the other property we hunt, also during early muzzleloader. As you know, early ML is doe only.

cyclone,

What do you have against waering white and orange??

We have a couple of inches of snow and I was sitting in it waiting for bambi's dad to show up. It was very cold, he never showed up, but I got plasted by wind and snow. I picked it up an Gander Mountain, it goes over my camo, and it's not insulated. Also, it's off white and I enjoyed trying it out in the snow. Where I was sitting is private property and usually I'm the only one who hunts there. It's adjacent to my property along a swamp. I also have my orange hat plus orange vest. I looked like a big doctor without the patients.

That's the message we get. Apparently we have to register with Yahoo.
