just got back from 2 days of rough (windy- snowy) hunting in central p.a. in sproul state forest and not much to talk about. i sat in my tree lounge all day and only saw a couple small does. i thought with the antler restriction the couple spikes and 4 point i saw last year would be all grown up till i ran into a couple guys coming out of the woods. the one guy was military and killed a spike last year in my area and then he told me that youth hunters could shoot small racks too and that people are using tags from the kids to allow anyone to take under size antler deer.theres always a way around the rules and i guess i will just have to grin bear it[:@] all in all from the hunters i talked to it seems the population is down or maybe just bad weather i hope.
it was the same here in 3-d near hickory run and penn forest , i hope it was the weather but , saturday looks to be having the same weather as monday but could turn into a winter storm , i really don't like that forcast [:'(][:'(][:'(]
i'm planning on going to the hickory run state park on saturday , but if i keep getting bad reports from the other locals i'm thinking about going over into 4-C and trying my luck there
