ok , from the way i'm taking your post , you've never hunted deer before ( or maybe never hunted before , please don't take offense to that comment , it wasn't intended to insult )so , what i'de reccomend is that you
first ,
take the " hunter safety education course " ( if i got that name right ) as you'll need it to get a hunting license ,
second, learn some basic first aid techniques ,
third ,
once you decide where you want to go hunting get a map or scout out the area during off-season and get to know the place by making a map of it , and when venturing into unknown territory take some ribbon with you in a highly visible color to tie to trees or shrubs to make a trail to follow out incase you loose your way ( in these woods , it's very easy for a experienced woodsman to even get lost , especially if it's late in the day and loosing light )
fourth ,
find out as much info on your hunting location , your gear and the range and limitations of it , and about deer habitat and thier habits ,actions , food types and sources , and the legalities of hunting places , antler restrictions , lures , and calls , etc... as you can ,
once again if you allready know these things that's great , i don't mean to offend you in anyway at all , just trying to help you out bud , that's all

BTW- two things i forgot to mention , always leave somebody know where your planning on going hunting , and try to get yourself in good physycal and cardiovascular shape , when in the woods it is usually a physically enduring experience with the elements , and the weight of equipment , and the walking up grades and down , and especially if your go and get a deer and have to drag it out
