Default PGC answers my question

I emailed the game commission about the $10 a point roadkill law. Below are my email and theirs

" I recently heard that, if you hit a buck with your car, you can buy the rack
from the game commission at $10 per point. I have heard many people say
this but I have never seen it documented. Where could I learn more about
this? What is the reason behind selling the racks to the motorist that hit
the deer instead of giving it to him or the WCO retaining it? Thanks for
your time."

" a pa resident can have, at no charge, a deer hit by them or someone else simply by calling the nearest PGC region office and getting a free permit. You must do this within 24 hours. However, if the animal is a buck, the antlers must be turned over to the PGC. Antlers can be purchased at 10 per point."

Not too helpful

Do antler restrictions still apply? I' d hate to hit a nice 4 pointer and then have to leave it there.

I emailed them back for clarification. They never returned that email. I went over to the DNR/park office near our local hunting grounds over the weekend looking for a real live game warden. The office was closed. I will get to the bottom of this.

$10 a point? that' s crazy, I think I' d knock them off some-how, and take them anyways, because anytime u ever see a deer along the raod, if it' s a buck, someone always takes the antlers, and I' m sure they don' t pay $10 a point.

If I' m reading this right this is about the dumbest thing I' ve heard. Why in the heck do you have to pay for the horns? Is the state just trying to make more laws and earn some extra cash? Damn deer hits my car he' s dinner and if he has a nice rack then he' s dinner and a center piece. Is the PGC going to pay for your repairs? Something sounds real fishy, almost communist, when will these stupid laws stop?
