Well, I have not spent alot of time there, so I cannot comment too much on Clarenden specifically. In general though, from what I know, Vermonts deer herd is fairly decent in number, but not like NY or PA by any means. Usually over 60% of the bucks taken are spikes, and very few bucks are taken over 4 years old. Vermont has a long standing tradition of deer hunting which does bring alot of folks into the woods. The heaviset deer seem to come from the areas of low deer density like the Green Mtn. National Forest or Vermonts Northeast corner reffered to as the kingdom. Deer are more plentyfull in the farmlands, but are usually smaller in rack and weight. This is especially true of counties like Bennington and Rutland, which consistanly have the highest harvest rates and deer per square mile.

Have fun and good luck. Let us know how you do!!
