Bear Hunting In New Jersey
#11
I think the OP was solo hunting, not part of a big organized drive. And he was using a bow, so a drive wouldn't really be the way to go for him in that case.
How many Saturdays are there in bear season? Some folks don't have the time to take off and hunt bear during the week.
I think it really is an accomplishment to get any bear with a bow. Doesn't really warrant a "congrats, I guess".

Yes I was hunting solo, from my truck to my hunting location is a 1.5 mile walk.......I had a few big bears coming, big I mean 350, 400 plus, one 500 maybe bigger, only a few times did the biggest show up on cam during shooting hours, last two weeks all the bigger bears became fully nocturnel. The bear I took, I could of taken her at 7:10am she came in, but I let her walk. Didn't see another bear until about 3:50pm a much smaller bear. Then at 4:15pm the bear I saw in the morning returned and I decided I'm taking her. Only one Saturday during this segment of the hunt .....Sorry if I don't fit your standards mrbb......I'm sure your trophy room is filled with huge game....this 132 lb bear will be added to my wall along with my other game I have mounted

well good for you guys, as I said in case you's missed it, I said, if your happy, good for you. that's all that matters
I again also said, as weather gets colder and food become less, a BIG bear MIGHT have showed up in day time at his bait pile
and SHOOT a small one, on ONE day of hunting, isn't going to get him a BIG one
what I do is MY right and what you do is your right, as long as its legal I guess that's all that matters
as for my trophy room, yes I do have a few very large things, worked very hard to get them and passed on a TON of smaller things to also get them
AS for bear hunting,
I have hunted bear alone MANY MANY MANY times and PASSED on smaller one's in PA's 3 day bear season
as again that was MY choice, maybe NOT your's
BUT again back to the
" you will never " GET A big ONE IF YOU SHOOT SMALL ONE'S "
if all you want ius to SHOOT a bear, have at it
I don't want a mounted animal that isn't much bigger than my dog in my house.camp or cabin?
again MY right
you all do as you please
I wasn't bashing on the OP
Was just saying what MY experience has learned about bear movements in the fall and how they change there feeding patterns!

they should lay off that guy, he did what was needed IMO
