Default Allegany state park in western ny

Thinking about giving this area a try this upcoming archery and gun season but haven't been able to find a whole lot of info about the area. I was hoping maybe someone on here has had a little experience there and could chime in with something.

i hunted there a few times its been a long time ago but there are good deer numbers from what i still read i still get the d.e.c. news letter so sign up for that you get lots of info there as well as there web site but more importantly call the officer that is charge of that area or call the main office and ask to speak to a field officer and he will give you a great deal of information. i will check to see if i still have maps of the area? where abouts do you live ?

Is this newsletter a hard copy thing or just an email? I signed up for emails of updates from the Dec but I don't seem to ever get much, not sure if this is the same thing. I just live a short ways from the park in PA. I've been wanting to try some big woods hunting such as the Adirondacks but that's a little further away and I've heard state park is similar in as far as terrain and forest goes.
