Default NY turkeys.

Looks like they're already well into mating in my area.I've seen a few pairs and gobblers with several hens just driving around.

The ones that are on the hill behind my house have been gobbling really hard in the morning for the past two weeks. I wish they would open the season up a week or two earlier and/or let us hunt all day here in NY.

I agree, it would be nice if they would open up a little sooner. I had a group of 7 hens by themselves the other day in the back field.

I saw a nice group of Osceola's here the other day. Too bad I don't hunt them here...LOL. We had a bunch at our place in Steuben Co. last fall during deer season.

Been seeing hundreds here in the islands this spring with a lot of long beards. Just this morning I saw a 9" beard right across from my driveway when I went out to get the paper. He was kind of skinny and all alone so he must have been chased away from a group by a big guy.

Not sure on any mating yet. But seen few nice toms out in fields strutting to their hens. Haven't heard any gobbling in mornings around my place at dawn. But sure they are.

Turkeys start strutting, gobbleing and mating long before most think.

I have been in a blind while my partner videotaped them actually copulating in mid March here in Steuben County....

That was not this year, however..
