Default What do Long Island Deer eat??

As it gets colder and the rut ends I know that food sources are the place to be but besides acorns what do the deer in Long Island eat. I know of a few fields but they look like they are just dried up grass?? I always see deer on TV feeding in fields but those are always lush green food plots. Do deer feed on that dry hay looking grass in the fileds here?
So what should I be looking for as a food source for the late season her in long Island?
Thanks In Advance,

Frank

I suspect that those Lng Island deer like the cannoli and antipasto from the corner deli...
I'd be looking for areas where there's grass, weeds, and ferns...

Default Yup, a little bit of Italy ,,,

There a liitle on the grumpy side if they dont get there Italian dish ... LOL.. Kidding...
I,d be looking for a corn field or something thats still green in color.
Everything is drying out or freezing now ,,
As it gets realy bad they eat tree buds , twigs , cedar , etc.
But if you have a cut corn field or ag crop thats fairly green or as you stated acorns , thats what there starting to look for now ,
That is until the second faze of the rut kicks in ..
My 10 pointer I shot a week ago was run ragged and looked as though lost at least 25 lbs, I,f he was still walking this weeked he would have qualified to do a bikini contest .. LOL....

Default ????

I cant say from experiance because my hunting season is done before it kicks in ,
I herd abought 26 days or so from the first rut , witch in my Northern NY area I ,d say was around Nov, 20th , so around here it would be abought Dec. 15th ....
I dont believe Second rut is anywhere near intence as the first .
I would realy concentrate on food sources....
