Default 2010 ML Sika

Tickled pink. Been hunting them for 11 years in Blackwater Refuge in MD and biggest one I ever got.

Very nice, I have always wanted to get a Sika. Is that public land you got it on? How do they interact with the whitetail? Are they submissive to them?

Yep, on blackwater refuge.

They kick whitetails butt. More aggressive. I watched em from far off charging whitetails twice thier size. Generally what I noticed, they keep thier distance.

Are Sika indigenous to MD or were they transplanted?

I hunted a game preserve in Fairley VT "Russian Bore" which I remember the owner telling me they had their Sika imported. They must have a certian diet that is not found up here in New England explaining why NH never had them imported or is it the same as the Whitetail's diet?

Nice buck by the way.

No man, no game preserve. They were imported in 1920 and then let loose on assateague Island, James Island, and ended up taking off. They seem to thrive in the swamps.

What bigcountry said. They were imported long ago and are completely wild now, their origin is Asian . I don't know if there are any high fence outfitters of them in the Eastern Shore. I also don't think too many people really go after them, and bigcountry's is one of the largest I have seen taken, nice stag for sure.

Nice one Mark! Congrats. I've wanted to hunt them for a while too, but have yet to give 'em a try. Both of my doe tags are filled though, so I'll have both buck tags available. I've got my eyes set on 4 really big bucks on different properties. ANY of them will be wearing my tag given a chance!

Wife prefers em over WT. I myself can't tell much difference.

Good luck on the buck tags. Got two open myself. Got two doe down with recurve. Very happy with that.

Headin out now. Good luck
