Slim,

I grew up a few miles from Gifford Pinchot and have fished it heavily for the last 20+ years, it's a good spot for big largemouth. I'll answer whatever i can for you.

I fished at canoe creek growing up. Haven't fished there in 5 years. It is a big bass reg so there are some nicer fish in it. I had good luck on the top end of the lake for bass and caught some pike there too. There are a lot of people who fish there so be ready to see other boats.

Canoe Creek state park is in the middle of a known drought zone and I would guess that the water is really low right now and that there would be some type of restrictions as to camp fires and stuff like that.

You could check the weather blog for WTAJ and I would bet that Joe Murgo would agree with me on this one. This year is not good for seeing the fall foliage down there either. The other day Joe sent me an email and told me that it is so dry down there that the leaves are turning brown and falling right off the trees right now.
