Default Handgun Qustion: New York/Ulster Counties

After commuting between New York City and a place upstate, I got a permanent address in the city and changed the registration on my license. Now I use my upstate place on weekends. When I had an upstate address I had no problem buying rifles - I never wanted or tried to get a handgun. (As some of you may or may not know, getting a permit for ANY firearm in NYC is a lengthy and expensive process, but I'd got my guns while listed as a non-NYC resident...)

So... now I may want to get a handgun. Problem is, now I'm an NYC resident. Does any one have any idea how I can prove this is ONLY for the upstate address? Is a driver's license the ONLY piece of ID you can buy a gun with?

Thanks.

I doubt that you will be issued a pistol permit for nyc. From what I hear it just doesnt happen. Your best bet would be to move out of NYC and back to Ulster county if you wanted the handgun. Your drivers liscence doesnt allow you to buy a handgun. Also, if you have a permit in Ulster you are not allowed to carry into NYC.
