Default Maine hows your season going so far?

Jumped my 1st buck of the season Saturday. A decent buck which looked around 180lbs and I caught 4 points on one side so Im guessing a 7 or 8 pointer. Unfortunately the rust hadnt worn off from the year of waiting so I made my first mistake as well by having my rifle slung over my shoulder. Typically I remove the sling off my rifle before I enter the woods and normally Im ready but like I said that damn rust and I screwed up. I only got up the road a 150 feet when that buck waved the bye bye flag at me. Thats Ok I was looking for a bigger one anyways (cough cough) lol. Anyways I stalked around a couple good sized choppings and had a big doe come down this deer run thats so packed down you would swear it was I95 for the deer. Its right at the base of this ridge and looks like a beautiful spot for a stand (IMO). There is one tree that I could hook up to and watch that insane deer run, overlook 2 of the choppings and part of the road. I have thurs, fri and sat this week off so Im gonna have to bring over my ladder stand and put aside the stalking for atleast some of the day. Id be stupid not to right? Im not much of a stand hunter but Im guessing this is a good setup. Almost all my deer have been shot from the ground standing at awkward angles or on the run. Still havent shot one in its bed yet though (hoping to soon). Anyways thats the start of my season.
