ATV use in NY???

I am from out of state but lived in NY for years and now Im not up to date on ATV laws in NY.
Maybe someone knows this BEFORE i call the state >>> I am looking to use my ATV only...I repeat only to drive in on a dirt road that 4 wheel drive trucks use. The road into both locations are pretty much 4 wheel only. I have no intentions of using it into the woods (and never would) The reason is my 4 wheel truck is not cut out for those deep ruts and I have no intention of tearing it all up ...so if its legal I would certainly use the ATV.
Both locations are in the Adirondacks and are on state properties

generally no motorized veh on state land in NY except in a few select locations, and you will have to check with your local DEC office. only problem is where they are permitted probably won't be where you hunt??
