Default Hey Blue Bird, whats up with 5C

I was on the PGC web site. 5C has 130,000 antleress tags available for sale, more than 3dand 4c combined. You must have deer all over the place down there.

Without a doubt we have a lot of deer in areas where you can't hunt with a rifle. but 2A and 2B have even more yet they haven't seen the same increase in antlerless allocations.

They can issue 5 million antlerless tags, what good are they if you can't access the land to hunt. 5C is a good example why we should have smaller WMUs.

It is not about what good it will do , it is about what harm it will do. If the reduction in the herd in areas open to hunting results in more hunting quitting, it will only compound the problem of controlling the herd.

"Without a doubt we have a lot of deer in areas where you can't hunt with a rifle. but 2A and 2B have even more yet they haven't seen the same increase in antlerless allocations. "

Unlike 2B and 5c, 2A isnt an sra, and the urban /human conflict isnt an issue, and actually had been rated as "low conflict" since the deer program began.. Reduction has also been accomplished in 2A supposedly already to desired level and the herd was supposed to have been stabilizing since 2004. (supposedly being key term since its ongoing reduction despite any claims)

Cornholio, (btw nice name, and use of my terminology as well as bold text like I use. Clearly one of the liars/frauds pgc supporters one most likely disgruntled because made him look like an idiot. My guess is "lil" racer guy or one of only 2 other known frauds and liars, utilizing another alias... anyway .. that data is from 4 years ago, and before even further reduction and also is PREHUNT density. Not the deer density most often spoken of or the one that is managed for. That would be over winter or post season deer density.

Currently not one wmu is at more than 25 ow deer per square mile. Which is the lowest goal from any of the best areas of any other state Im aware of....AND we are STILL reducing according to the annual report data.

2A has been lowered even more needlessly than areas worst in the state. Considering the cc of the unit is double to triple those areas. Any way you slice it the deer plan is a failure.

I do agree with you, though, Patsy, smaller wmus are needed.

VERY BADLY needed. However if you read the nonsense in the pgc deer chronicle, they are completely opposed. As they always are when it comes to something that may possibly benefit the hunters of this state.

Could it be that you missed the fact that the 40DPSM was the PS DD not the OWDD. A density of 40 PSDPSM equates to a density of only 6.25 DP 100 acres. How many beef catle would a farmer hve on 100 acres of pasture/ I guarantee it wouuld be more than twice that number and beef cattle are much larger and more selective than deer.
