Default Hey Phil from Maine, I got an idea

I'm not sure how legal this is, so you might want to check into this first.

What if you went into your moose hunting area about a week before your hunt and squirted out some moose pi$$ in several places. ( Don't laugh, I'm serious)

It would be like making some mock scrapes for whitetails.

I've heard that it really doesn't matter if the urine comes from a cow, deer or elk. They say that cow urine will work for deer. I've heard it is made up of the same phermones and will work between species.

I'm talking about the doe in heat type of urine.

Anyway, if you could go to your area a few times during the week before and spray this stuff around, you might get a few bulls to start hanging out there looking for a lady friend.

When you arrive to start your hunt, I'd think a few calls of your cow call would bring in a couple bulls on the run.

Thanks for some ideas Windwalker, I know it would be legal as long as it is not driving them, baiting them, or night hunting them. Using scents just like hunting for deer is legal here. I am thinking of trying to get some from a cow moose from the week before I hunt if I can locate one that has been shot during the September season. I think it was something like 63 bulls and 10 cows during the first season. Then during the season I have in October it is something like 23 bulls and 10 cows. So I am thinking if I can connect with someone that happens to shoot one I should surely be able to draw in a nice big bull. I am not sure if that will work but definately worth a try. If not I'll probally set out some deer scent in an area I am watching for one to come around in during the October hunt.. Most of the ones I have talked with feel pretty confindent i will be able to connect with one and I am hoping they are right. Just it's the time of year most have come of the rut and has gotten a little wiser from the September hunt ahead of the hunt i will be going on.

You're in business now!

Maybe if you sprizt a little on cottonballs and hang them around your area, you can get a bottle to last longer.

Hopefully a couple bulls will start hanging out there.

I really hope you get one. I'm excited for you.

Thanks!, I am thinking that with a six day hunt I will try calling them for the first three days and if that doesn't pan out I will resort to road riding early in the morning and late in the evening. The zone I am hunting in is roughly 50 miles squared with a lot of old cuttings and logging roads going every where. If worse comes to worse I shoot a 4 pointer or something along those lines. After waiting all these years I will do my best to make sure I am not empty handed..

I have seen 6 bulls during my scouting trips as well as several cows. I also have gotten 2 bulls on my trail cam that I have not seen yet, one hugh one and one small yearling bull. So I am hoping the scent and cow call will work great for me then. I ordered 2 bottles of the cow in heat scent so that I can put some out a couple of days early. One of the places I have been traveling the moose has been walking the roads day and night right now..

So, will you be calling with your mouth? The guides in Newfoundland did that.

You probably already know the shoe string and coffe can trick.
