It looks like I will be moved to APG on orders soon. I'm just curious about the quality of hunting on the base...

I see there are several WMA's in that area and it's only a stones throw away from PA. So I will definitely explore those option, but I will also be hunting on base.

Proving ground hunting is great, if you like deer with 4 eyes.[:-]

Actually, lots of does, never seen anything huge took out of there. But Fort Meade down the road about 30miles is not bad. You also have Prettyboy resovoir, and Gunpowder park. They recently opened Loch Raven watershed. None produce absolute monsters, but I have taken respectable deer out of them.

I hunted APG for 5 years and did great. Got a nice buck every year but one and a boatload of does. You'll love the hunting there and the quality of the bucks has been improving a lot the last few years which will make it all the better.

Thanks fellas! But I found out shortly after posting this that the USMC is moving the detatchment they have at APG down to Fort Lee, VA. They should be done by the beginning of 2010. So it looks like I'll be going there instead, which isn't bad either.
