well, its hard, i tried to get boy scouts to do it but they are afraid of liability thing .
fishing, its easy,we do it a few times at cross forks and hyner ,pa.
guns, not many want involved in it.
we have womens thing every year now to teach how to shoot a gun but when you mentioned kids hunting ,not anyone raises a hand.
i dont know anyone that does it here or wants to .
we used to take kids out with us if parents ok it years ago when lots of deer were here,
many times we got them lost also, ended up over about 1 mile away, yelling,OH OH, YO HO, YOOOOOOOO,HOOOOOOOO,I REMEMBER THAT SOUND FADING OVER MOUNTAIN.
its wonder my dad did not have a nervous breakdown but that was how tough kids were then and parents would not get mad if you were lost for awhile in snow blizzard.
i remember losing a whole crew of kids in snowstorm, you could not see 10 ft and we had about 5 new kids around 14 years old in crew.
no radios then and 10 above zero, high winds.
we all carried silver salutes in our pockets in case wse got lost in a storm etc.
boy, they were loud when they went off and dad knew it was one of us by sound.
i know no one TODAY in my area that will do it, heck, we are afraid to reload for anyone now do to how things are in world.
my dog bit a kid a few years ago that i was learning how to catch a baseball, his parents came to my home looking for a LAWSUIT.
after that, i stopped things like this and raised my homeowners ins to 350,000 on liability.
heck, i cant even raise pheasants in my yard anymore, gov said i need permit and now i am not zoned right.
we stopped the pheasant thing as some of dads got out of hand and started shooting phesants for kids.[:@]
man, its hard to be kid anymore and adult too.......
