Default Deer Processing in MD

Just movedto Montgomery Countyfrom Texas. I got lucky andhappened to score about 60 acres from a friend of a friend of a friend (I know, it's complicated) in Upper Marlboro (Prince Georges County). I was amazed to learn that antlerless deer is limitless! So Isetup my standandlooking to get out there this weekend.

The problemI am having is locating a place to have the deer processed once I harvest it (thinking positive). Does anyone know of a place to process deer in either Montgomery or Prince Georges Co? The only ones I have been able to locate are way up on Baltimore. Would appreciate any help or info you can offer. Would hate to go out there without a plan as to where I am getting it processed.

Hey I'm new to MD also. If you can hook a brother up with some private land to hunt that would be sweet. I have been stoppin at this farm a couple times to see if I can get permission, but no one is ever there.

So I got a card from the sales person in the hunting dept at Dick Sports for a processor in Silver Spring. He said he has used him for the past 3 yrs and likes his work. I called him and he is still operational and accepting deer this season. Here is his info....

I have used Austins before and I have also used Ray Hitchcocks. He's on New Cut Rd. off of I-97. Don't have the address off hand. See if you can look him up. He also does taxidermy.

After I got the card, I called for the hours and to get a feel for the guy. He said to call when you are on the way and if he is there he will hep you. Otherwise, he hasa meat locker that you can go and drop the deer off any time. He said to just hang the deer (if you can) and make sure it is properly tagged along with the state call in number. Then fill out the form he has there with what you want done with it and then call him to let him know it is there.

I have never seen it done that way, then again i have never had the opportunity to harvest over 36 deer in one season! That is very different than TX. I sent an email to the state to pose the question and this is what i got back....

"Hello Javier,

Thank you for your inquiry. The total bag limit is for each season (archery, muzzleloader, firearm). So if you are hunting Region B, you can take 10 antlerless deer and 2 antlered deer during each season (2nd antlered deer after taking 2 antlerless deer and buying a bonus tag within each season) "“ 30 antlerless and 6 antlered total for the hunting year.Brian Eyler
