Default Here we go again NY

I almost hate to get this started since I'm so new to the board. I've seen plenty of posts about this in the past (as a lurker) so I'm well aware of the can of worms being opened.

What do ya'll think? Apparently there's still no photos or hard evidence. I think the reader posts at the bottom are entertaining as well.

I hunt in the southern tier and I have heard stories down there from farmers that have killed them and the dec hit the roof and confiscated the mountian lions. No joke pretty relaible source. I believe they are here we have serious coyote problems and I believe the dec released them to kill off the coyotes. no doubt

Straightarrowny...if you want to have any credibility around here. IMO, do not start a post fromNYabout cougars w/o proof. We have heard all of the stories before. Some guys have even had pictures from other states trying to say they are from NY. Be carefull.

Welcome. This is a great website and a lot of great people

A couple years back I went to a DEC meeting and listened to DEC Deer Biologist Jim Farquar. He said that he believe that there are mountain lions in NY but they are released out of control pets. He said that he had ads in his office where you can buy a mountain lion kit for the same price as a good dog. These people get these kits then they grow up. So they release them in the wild. The DEC will not recognize them until they can prove there are breeding pairs.

I'm throwing the BS card.
There has been dozens of posts like this in the last few years here and on other forums.
Not one has EVER been backed up with a shred of dredible, verifiable proof.
Again- NOT ONE.
Post anything other then coffee shop rumor, or my brothers friends wifes sister knows someone (probably a pastor as well) that told them about black trucks in the middle of the nightand be the 1st.

nybowhunter,

I didn't say either way whether I was a believer or not. In fact, I'm not. I posted the article because it's a fairly large publication in this area and apparently getting alot of attention.

Notice the sentence in my postthat says "still no photos or hard evidence". This alone should have told you that I'm a sceptic.

Did you read the article? If so, you can'treally come to the conclusion that cougars are in NY.

No need to attackmy credibility.

X2.... With all the trail cams in the woods these days, somebody would have a photo. But still no photos, no verifiable tracks, no carcasses, nothing but heresay.
