I " use" to be a member many years ago. I sold over $250.00 worth of Raffle tickets for some of their hunts one night at an archery banquet and never even got a simple thanks!! That turned me right off!! It' s the little guy that makes the difference in these clubs, and somebody better start realizing that fact!![:@]

I had planned on joining when I returned from Germany, but when I saw that they were against crossbows, I wouldn' t join. Just a personal preference, but since I originally come from a state that allowed crossbow and it has been for awhile with no drawbacks and has expanded hunting oppurtunities. So I decided not to join!

Der Jagd, did the state you speak of allow crossbows during archery season? And how long have crossbows been used there? Because studies done in Ohio where the crossbow has been legal during archery season has shown a negative impact since they were legalized. More, and more crossbow users have entered the woods during archery season that normally wouldn' t. Not that more hunters in the woods is a bad thing, but harvest numbers show every yr more are taken with the crossbow, then regular archery equipment. And archery equipment sales are down, crossbow sales way up. Thats exactly what the crossbow manufactures want, and why they are pushing to legalize the crossbow during NY' s archery seasons. The pushers are not attempting to get their own season implemented, they went them legalized during all of NY' s seasons. For this NYB is against legalizing the crossbow. NYB and many pro shops across this state are willing to help anyone get involved with archery equipment. It takes time, and patients to learn to master archery form. NYB has a physically challenged program, and have done some amazing things with handicapped people. Its well known that the crossbow being a rifle type stock, shoulder held, always cocked and loaded, fired with a gun style trigger, with scope capabilites, and now even tripod attachments are a serious advantage over regular archery equipment. Simply put they are not a bow, and anyone willing to invest the time, and learning capabilites to learn archery equipment can take advantage of earlier archery seasons. They don' t need crossbows legalized to hunt during NY' s archery seasons!
