Rifle in Steuben County NY ???

Last year was a so called trial run for the use of rifles instead or besides shot guns ,I n the shot gun only areas of Steuben County and a few other area in NY State.
Anyone herd if its also for this year 2008 season ??
Or possibly every year on out ??

I would contact your local representative. I know the current session ends in late June or early July and they usually don't come back unless it's to act on emergency bills.
If they don't pass it, things could get very interesting. Alot of guys sold their shotguns to buy rifles.

Not me still have my Remington 1100 w/rifled barrel .
Ive shot some nice deer with it .
Its very accurate .
Just nice to have a rifle along for some longer than 125 yard shots..[8D]

Well , I just went to NYS dec and from what I can tell it is still legal and a go for using rifles besides the bow , hand gun and shotguns in Steuben and other Counties ..
So I may be looking for a new Browning semi auto rifle for Souithern Tier .
Just got to decide what caliber ?? 7mm-08 , 270, 300wsm ????

I hope we're all set for rifles here in Steuben etc. I keep looking for something in NY Outdoor News but haven't seen even a comment about where the new bill stands.

Well I double checked and e-mailed NYS. DEC ,
They e-mailed me back and said it was on again for the 2008 season .
So looks like well be using rifles again in Steuben County this doe season .
Although I will still bring my Remington 1100 rifled barrel 12 gauge for the thicker spots..

It's been approved by both houses and sent on to the Gov for his signature. The only thing I don't understand is why they only approved it until 2011.
