Default Deer for Lunch?

I was just driving back from lunch with a few buddies of mine, when we spotted a doe with a fawn standing in a driveway next to a state park.

As we are watching them, I couldn't believe what I saw out of the corner of my eye. About 25-30 deer bounded across the road behind my truck...broad daylight at 1:00pm in the afternoon.

I had never seen that many deer grouped together at once...especially during the day.

Made for a nice after lunch snack.

This time of year, deer will gather or yard in an area that offers them what they need to survive the winter. It's not uncommon for deer herd numbers to be high in a certain area during the winter months when they are not so in other times of the year.
