Default A thank you to the PGC!!!

This was the first season where we were actually allowed to hunt until dark. I know, I certainly welcomed the chance to stay in the woods during that last half hour. It did allow me to see deer where I would have been walking out under the old rule. I even had a shot opportunity during that time.

There has been no indication that safety was compromised as some predicted there would be.

It was a long overdue and very welcome change!!

Cannot argue with that one bit. Ofcourse there were times when it was legal to shoot and I sure as heck would not have been able to see what I was shooting at but, more often than not, the extra time was a blessing in terms of seeing animals.

I watched the clock pretty well at days end and on dark and dismal days, I was climbing down maybe 5 minutes early. On clear days, especially with snow, it would have been nice to be able to stay a just a little bit longer.

No chart can anticipate the exact amount of light at a given time but it was certainly more sensible than the past rules.

I love the new rules!!! Now if we can just get the bigger fines in for poachers........

Throw in another Amen!

Recall many evenings in rifle season, that there was enough light well after quitting time, to identify legal deer, so this one was a major grumble of mine for years. It (the extension) almost passed several years ago, but was shot down by the BOC when it came up for consideration, based on advice (pressure)from LE.

As for pushing forincreased fines/penalties for major infractions, many of us are also trying to apply some pressure to the legislature to finally get off'n their duffs and have PA join the Interstate Violator's compact, so hunters cited for major infractions in other states, can't hunt here either. And that works both ways: Anyone citedin PA, couldn't hunt in states that belong to the compact.

Our participation is long overdue.
