Default PA official Rut reports.....

Well i am here in indiana county going to school and i am saving up my days to miss a few classes for full day hunts....

Here it seems like the deer may be locked down tight in the bedding areas but hopefully that changes soon. i havent been seeing them as frequently the last 2 times i was out which were monday and wed of this week.

How is it going in yer neck of the woods

Bingo!
Yesterday and todayI have gotten reports of big bucks walking around in daylight just "smelling stuff".
You all know what that means. The seeking phase has begun. My Dad saw a very big buck that walked behind a doe, right past one of my stands.
The UPS guy just told me ten minutes ago that he saw a huge buck standing along the road just "smelling stuff".
Better get out there now!

I was out last weekend and I only saw one doe.. But the activity has really picked up in my area. Alot more road killed doe this week and that means the bucks are chasing them. LAst night I saw 2 bucks chasing one doe on the farm my buddy lives on. So hopefully that will be a good thing come Saturday when i get out again.

todd--- Ilive in New London. I hunt two local farms right by my house.I just started hunting them this year. I use to hunt White Clay Creek state park. It was a great place and I used to have pretty much to myself but in the last two years it has been over run. Where there used to be two or three cars at the end of the day there are now ten or twelve with two or three guys to a car and common courtesy has gone out the window. Last year I found six illegal stands, two unrecovered does and a buck with it's antlers cut off and every day the parking area was trashed. I came home many nights last year and told my wife that I was ashamed to beassociated with them as a( hunter ). I told her if I didn't find a new place to hunt this year I may not hunt. At least that how bad I felt then. Luckly I did findthe new places and so far they look good.Sorry to ramble off like that. Good hunting to you.

I have seen an increase in rut activity since last Saturday when we had the cold front come through. Wednesday night was fairly slow with the warmer weather but I have a feeling tonight and tomorrow are going to be productive. I have been seeing buck chasing doe quite regularly since last Saturday evening.

I was taking my daughter to school this morning and darn near hit a big non-typical that was chasing a wounded doe and her fawn through the housing development, within sight of my house. He had GREAT mass, tons of junk. Tongue hanging out. I'd say 135 ish. I was watching the doe limping as it crossed in front of the truck and my daughter screams: "Watch out Dad...here comes a buck!" I didn't see him till I almost hit him.

I saw 6 bucks Wednesday morning when I shot my 7pt. They were cruising, rubbing and fighting. In fact my buck fought with another buck minutes before I shot him.
