lookin to fill my NY bear tag.. need some input!

a buddy and I wanna fill our bear tags this year... never done it before... thinking of going on opening weekend for bear (following weekend of opening day for gun-deer) i think its the 25th

were from WNY, genesee county, and dont wanna travel TOO far..

need some input to where we can go.. possible public grounds.. southern teir

was told if i take RT19 south ill hit some state lands were bear season is open but i cant find any info on this..

im also looking to fill my bear tag this year as well..i want a chance to use my .308 Win on a big blacky. Information would be great....only problem is its gotta be super hard with no baiting allowed.

All I can say, is good luck! Most bears shot in NY are by hunters out hunting deer when a bear just happened to wander by. Lots of hunters have been hunting for more years than they could remember without ever seeing a bear, nevermind kill one. This is even more true in the southern zone than in the north.
