Only seen turkeys so far. I am doing some scouting on the fly, they are logging off the land I am hunting on, so travel patterns have changed a bit. Can't wait for the cold weather to get here. What zone are you hunting in???

It's very nicecountry up there, but tough to get permission to hunt. Not as many deer as in years past, but still some pretty nice ones around.

What does the DNR say about the herd population this year? I grew up in Burlington but didn't start hunting until I moved to the midwest. My cousin who still lives and hunts in VT told me that he pretty much quit goign out because there were so few deer to shoot and the restrictions on which could be shot were so tough. I looked it up a year ago, going into season, and it looked like the total VT harvest was equal the the rifle only harvest in just my zone/approximately county. Any improvements this year?

I think there are definitely more deer around my area this year. I like the restrictions in place and hope they stay around a few more years. If we can get some cold weather, buck sightings should start to go up.
