I hunt that area all of the time. Not many deer the past few years, but I still see them everytime I go out. Used to be a lot more. I hunt all public land.

If you can hunt private land your chances are much better then public land. NJ at one time had so many deer, but for the last 10 years or so they allowed hunters to take unlimited amount of antlerless deer in some deer zones thru out the state. Overall the deer hunting i decent

the toms river area and the route 70 area is the pine lands area. its got sandy poor ground and smaller deer than the rest of the state. numbers are way down and the coyotes have thinned things out. if you travel a little further north to monmouth county i would hunt the park systems there. also in the pines they are loaded with chigger bugs. if you dont know what they are you are in for a treat! new jersey has great deer hunting but you need to do a little research. the good news is that the state is small and there are usually people who can take you out or recommend great areas to hunt.

nice
monmouth?
just north of me.
maybe i look up some soil tables and see what the state has to offer.
that might shed some light on were the most food is.
other then that i am gona have to hit the bars and ask some of the good old boys.
work at a hospital and most of the staff is Doc (don't have time to hunt) and female nurses (never would pick up a gun let alone blast something with it)
wish me luck fellas.

if anyone out there wouldn't mind a redneck from western NY going out with them send me a line.

Check out my site, we have a bunch of hunters from those areas, and myslef and another member hunt in jersey all of the time. I will be posting the info as the season gets closer for everyone to read.

I'm gonna be going to college in Jersey now and probably living at home so I'll be able to hunt all season for once! I gotta figure out where the deer are this year...
