NJBowman,

It's bad outfitters like that which give the rest of us a bad rap. All outfitters are not bad and I think it's a great thing to bring the bad ones out in the public eye. Shame of it is, there will probably be others who fall prey to these people. If you want a good outfitter and want to hunt PA, you look me up.

How did you find these guys? Is this the outfit that you have pics posted in last yrs quarterly? How big is there lease? I am looking into booking an Adirondack hunt possibly next fall for either their early ML or rifle. Let me know.

I hunted a place called "river ridge ranch" in ohio. 200 acres all high fenced with estimated 200 deer and one 7x7 bull elk. Talk about a canned hunt. Of course we saw lots of deer, it's hard not to. Most of what we did was drives. I went as a guest but was charged as a hunter. Then the my buddy the hunter shot a 135 class buck. The guide said it was a 160 class and charged him for a 160 class buck. We had it scored and it was 135. SO my buddy only paid him for a 135, and he had to go to court over it. If you go to riverridgeranch.com you can see the area that we hunted, they have cameras up now. And you can see our guide. The hunting lodge was a trailer on the 200 acres with dead rats in it and no cook. I'm sure the guide does good stuff in other areas, we just got burned at this place.

Damn ! that's not right. I met and talked to a couple of new york state outfitters and i was going to book 1. I just don't remember which 1. it was the 1 that the guy had his camcorder hooked straight up to the tv and said he didn't even get a chance to put it on a vcr tape yet.I remember watching the tape. there were some nice bucks walking behind the tractor while they were feeding them. i was verry interested. He also had told me to actually call him up and i could come up and look around and also go out with him to feed the deer. But i'll tell ya what, i will be at the show between the 9th and the 12th in january. I'll definitely watch my back. Thank you for your info.

Wow! And I thought hunting public land was the pits! I'll take the public wildlife management areas over this kind of hunt anytime. Makes me grateful for the opportunities I have without going through all that.

Just remember anytime you give your money to these outfitters, your promoting the leasing up of hunting land so folks can come in and pay the money to shoot a deer, not hunt it.
I have nothing against outfitters, but we'd all be better off if we did NOT support them.
