Awesome, best turkey hunting wknd ever had. I just had a feeling it'd be good with the great weather finally got. It was my youngest first hunt. I took him out Sat. morning. My oldest had a track meet, and couldn't go. I called in 2 jakes, and my youngest son shot 1 @20yds at 8:30am. If my oldest was with us, they could've doubled. It was a weird jake, had almost a full tail, 3 1/2" beard, 1/4" spurs, and only 14lbs. My oldest son was mad as heck. He's done the youth hunt, andrest May seasonswith me for last 3yrs, and never shot a tom. Missed a nice one last spring. So this morning the pressure was really on. Oldest & I went to another spot, and the toms were hammering on roost. Setup about 80yds away, only did a few clucks, and 2 soft yelps. 1 tom came right in,BANG my oldest got his first turkey @15yds! I thought for sure by size of the bird coming through the woods it'd be a full tom, nope another jake. Almost identical to my youngest, 3 1/2" beard, 1/4" spurs, but was heavier 17lbs, had a jakes tail at 6:10am.I'm so excited just tickled pink. Being out with both my sons, and having both get their first turkey's is better than shooting one myself!! It'll make my whole 07' spring season!!!! I'm one proud father. !
