I am helping a friend post his 150 acre farm in Upstate NY. I read the DEC site which advises 12x12 inch sign that says "Posted" or warns against entry for any purpose.
The neighbors of the property have a sign that is recommended as a NY sign on Voss Signs which states "Posted. Licensed Hunting Preserve. Hunting (etc) prohibited."
Anyone know why this sign is recommended? Any advice on the posting signs or the process?

Is this land new to your friend? My guess would be its possibly a actual hunting preserve, and needs to be posted as such in NYS. If its not, then probably the signs are being used as a deterent, making other hunters believe its a hunting preserve where hunters pay to hunt. I'd look into it, if its not its probably posted illegally.
