Default Yarding Deer?

Anyone seeing deer Yard up this year? The biggest group I saw was maybe 15 deer - even with the big snows the last 2 weeks - I don't think they'll yard up in my are this year.

I have not seen them in groups yet but, have noticed after the last snow storm here that they have moved into the thick heavey grown stuff. So with out going in there, I would say yes, here they have appeared to have starting yarding up.

Yesterday evening I seen about 15 in a group also. Two of them was bucks, a forker on both beams and the other was a 6. The antlers was only the thickness of a larger marker pen. But That is the most deer I seen at one time in the last 4 years.

I took a ride tonight. saw 2 groups about 10-12 in each group. 1st group was feeding on grass that wind blew the snow off of and the 2nd was eating salt off the road. The second group had alot of small dog size deer in it. I'm glad to see they made it soo far. But at the same time I'm worried cause I use to see 200 deer at this location.

I saw somewhere between 50-100 deer about a week or so ago. I was traveling on Route 12 between Lowville and Turin, NY. They were all up on a very large hill eating off of trees. I could clearly make out large numbers of deer from the road. I was amazed. I also witnessed some traveling along stream banks around the same areas. They had it rough for a little while, but they'll be fine. Can't wait till October 07 already!

3-6-07 -

I'm seeing them yarded now. Rte 13 just below Chittenango Falls - probably between 50 and 75 deer - up and down the hillside and in yards.

Each day the group gets a bit bigger - and they get a little bolder as the food is being browsed up.

I was walking SGL 2 weeks ago. 4C and I saw lots and lots of runs. No Yarding. I think with the snow cover this winter they have gottne into bigger groups but nothing crazy. Some areas where I hunt and see lots of deer in the fall did not have a single track. Other areas near winter food had runs coming in from the south side all over the place.

I can't say for sure but it sure sounds like they are yarding up to me. If you folks get a chance take a look at my post in the predator forum " The Sickening Trueth About..."
