Default This people are sharing the PA woods with you.

Is it just PA that has all these morons in the woods. Too many illegal bucks have been taken with the new point restriction. In our local paper, many hunters who have already taken their buck, went back out and shot 4 pts and tug them with their antlerless tag thinking they were legal in that respect.

I'm afraid to think that the majority of PA hunters fall into the moron catagory.

Rob, I think it's not too much to assume that alot of these "hunters" are "one-day-a-year" guys. They didn't read the rules very well if at all. They just listened to the news or read the paper that didn't give all the details. We all knew something was going to happen, I didn't think this would be an issue, but....

I hope that most of the hunters in this state are following the rules, but we all know that the law enforcement officers are few and the slob hunters many. The only fesible way to accomplish compliance is self enforcement.

Sorry to hear about what's happening in your area. I haven't seen the same happen in my area, but it actually suprises me that I haven't. I expected the worst and hoped for the best.

Everyone has their morons, but my point would be: With the way the book reads if you turn yourself in for illegal buck kill you pay $25 and then it is discretionary to warden on whether or not to fine you $500 and license revocation. I have not heard of a single case yet where someone got just $25 fine. No one wants to sit out a year for a mistake and it is easier to leave the carcass in the woods then sit out a year. It was evident from the start of Antler Restrictions that there would be more deer left in the woods. I am glad my group is on private land and follwing the rules. Fewer MORONS in the woods, would make the world a much better place.

ROB, these guys are not hunters, they are weekend warriors. 90% have NO clue! I actually am afraid if I have to enter the woods in rifle season. So in that respect I do not call them "hunters" Just my two cents.

kidd took my word! i thought i was the only one to call these once a day a year hunters weekend warriors...i never heard anyone but myself use it...thats too kool! and i agree...i was dragging my buck out and he asked me if it was legal i was like yep but it dont matter im a junior hes like whats that mean? i explained...then hes like well how can u tell if its legal? i was like it HAS to have 3 pts to one side to be legal..and i drug away..looked to my dad and was like dad...they give people guns and hunting liscenes to people that cant even count to 3!??! then about 2 mins later i heard him spraying the woods down with some lead out of his lever gun...i feel bad for the deer in PA...i feel like a really great shot with grown men like that out there...being i never shot a deer more than once and never missed or lost a deer(except when my scope was broke but i scratch that year out!) if everybody would follow the simple rules we would have a great herd and lots of trophys bucks everywhere...but some morons wont cooperate so the ARs wont work so great and people will blam Alt and the ARs will be dropped...i think im taking up bow hunting...better chances of bagging a nice buck..and not so many chances of getting nailed with a giant hunk of lead randomly being thrown by some moron!

This may be a huge generational issue that will take time to develop. In NJ, the areas that have QDM have received overwhelming responses from younger hunters (50 and under). My club tried QDM last year only to have the "older guys" bitch/moan so much that we scrapped the whole plan for gun season.
