Default On Line Petition to Oppose Grannis

Based on numerous requests for a petition, I have created one to oppose the nomination of Alexander Grannis to become NYS DEC Commissioner.

Let's be perfectly clear that individual letters does far more than petitions in this instance, however, amassing a petition containing thousands of signatures also carries a ton of weight.

In order to make this one "above board", the petition does require each signer to enter their street address, state of residence and zip code. You also need to enter a valid email address, which will be kept private. None of your personal information you provide will be released, beyond being sent to the appropriate recipients (NYS Senate and NYS Assembly).

I also intend to copy Gov Spitzer on this one as well.

You may find the petition at the following url:

http://www.petitiononline.com/nogranni/petition.html

Please spread the word. I hope to gather this up and submit as soon as possible. Let's get 10,000 signatures, if not more.

Thank you all again for your help in this matter.

Mods, is there any way we can make this a sticky so it stays at the top for a while?

Thanks much

Rich Davenport

Come on hunters. NYS Anglers are showing more concern than the hunters are!!

Posted this on iceshanty.com, and the the petition is being signed by all. Let's not leave this issue for the anglers alone to battle.

Unite and help get this one stopped.

Hot off the Bat Phone, folks.....

I received a communication from Bob Church, WNY Director of Safari Club International, which was a forwarded communication sent by an Albany-area Outdoor Writer. It reads:

Quote:
Richard Nelson called to chat a few hours ago and said there's a
possibility that Gov. Spitzer will issue a directive that there will
be no more Gun Shows held on State property in NYS. That would
effectively stop the Albany Show held at Empire State Plaza and the
Syracuse Show held at the State Fairgrounds, plus others.
Spitzer's strategy is starting to crystalize, and Grannis is part of the "Gun-Free NYS" Spitzer nightmare.

Read and heed, folks. This is very serious stuff.

I am but the messenger, we need to gird up and fight as one.

I posted this on the North American Hunting Club site as well. I have signed it and sent emails to Spitzer and my reps. Please take a few minutes and do the same. This guy should not be allowed to drive by th DEC headquarters much less be in it.

Guys, we have gotten a very serious movement going across the State, and the movement is growing like a snowball rolling downhill.

NYSRPA and SCOPE have officially joined the battle. It is adviseable to make phone calls to your Senators now. Spitzer has not yet issued a demand for confirmation as of yet, and this means we still have time. Many in the Senate are fearful of going against the Governor (GOP members) as they do not wish it to be used against them next election. We have only a 3 seat majority in the Senate at this time. Yet, SCOPE is going on record as stating, you guys had better fight, otherwise, why the heck are we supporting you?

Keep the pressure up. Incidentally, NYSCC may not be able to help to the extent we may be hoping for. It is on us, folks, on us!

Are on line petitione taken seriously? I could post or make up a thousand names.

I believe your better off calling your reps and letting them know what you think.

I have already written the Governor and my reps and signed the petition. The petition must have your name and address to validate names and yes if it has enough names it can definetly make a statement and the more names the more weight so please sign and encourage all NY friends and family to also.
