Default PA hunters, do you support AR?

Do you support the antler restrictions in Pennsylvania?

I do, but I'm a junior hunter(15 years old) , so almost anything is legal for me. They seem like a good idea, but only time will tell...

Yep, I support them. I also like the idea that you junior hunters can still shoot bucks under the old system. Might be easier to get some under your belt that way.
Good Luck on Monday, and be safe!

I am with gimpy, no one should get breaks on what they can shoot. The program would work better if everyone had to follow it.

As far as letting youth hunters shoot any buck,it's a two-sided deal.I understand the idea of letting them get a "couple under thier belts"but when I was young you had to know what you were shooting at.As far as AR go no,imo Alt has ulterior motives.Money is behind this.I believe we will see bigger bucks in future years but it will also cost us bigger bucks to hunt.Alt is a weasle in a human suit.

OK, I will agree that youths being allowed to shoot smaller bucks is a two sided deal, but here is my reasoning why I am for it.
In 1995 there were 104,000 junior tags sold in PA.
In 2000 there were 57,000 junior tags sold in PA.

If, by allowing the juniors to harvest bucks under the old rules it gets and keeps more of them interested in hunting, then I am all for it!
I don`t claim to know that it will, it is just a thought!

Now, Mr. Ferguson, I can`t say that Alt does not have other motives behind this program. I cannot read the mans mind. I guess I am not as cynical as some.
But I will ask you this....how is it going to benefit Gary Alt if PA turns into a big buck mecca?
Here is another one.....Do you personally know Gary Alt?
I assume you must know him since you know he is a weasel.

Big Country,I know I sound cynical & I really don't mean to come off like that.AR are definately a touchy subject all I'm saying is "What ever happened to any deer is a trophy?"Everyone wants to shoot a big buck & I have been fortunate or lucky to do so,under the new Ar only 3 of my bucks are illegal her(4 points on a sde). This is a public herd not a managed game ranch,I think it should be left up to the hunter, the PGC does not "own" the herd.I do not know Alt personally but I have spoken with him at meetings,in Beaver Co.I asked him why not shoot the small bucks & protect the large bucks like they do on managed game ranches, his response & I quote was with his snide little sneaky grin"If I said hunters were allowed to shoot bucks 4 points or smaller, how many licenses do you think we would sell?"I think by selling the huge amount of doe licenses-7000 in Lawrence Co.this year, that Alt & the PGC caved in to the auto insurance companys & the tree farms.Just my opinion. When I was younger I hunted in Forrest Co.I seen herds of deer, now my friends hunt up there & see far less than they did 25 years ago.Just my .02 cents worth.
