I'll be at it this week. Better to be in the woods then at home with the inlaws.

Got out and saw more deer Christmas morning than in the last 2 weeks. Watch a doe walk to me down the hill. She stopped then turned and walked away. My heart was racing as I thought the antlerless tag was gonna get filled. Slowly I turn back towards a trail intersection and catch some movement 15 yds out in thick brush. Seconds later 2 doe emerge one standing 15' out from the stand. Arrows knocked I'm in a good position. Deer turns her head and I start to draw. Snap! aound comes her head and she glimpses me, bounding off 20 yards. She works out towards the next lane offering me the longest shot I'm comfortable with.(28yds). Broadside leg forward this is it I let it fly and miss low. Gotta work on those 30 yarders way up in the stand for next time around. The good news is the deer are still in there and I'll be to once the rain stops.

First year in 15 for me so I'd be happy with anything at this point. Seems easier to harpoon a tuna than get a deer.

Those years have been spent on excessive amounts of Saltwater fishing. I'd say it was not a loss but an opportunity to hone skills essential to both sports. Nothing like stalking a School of big Stripers across a shallow flat to practice patience and persistance. The rush of harpooning a large fish is right up there with sticking a deer.
My buddy who got me back into hunting is my fishing partner. I turned him on to the offshore game a few years ago and now I'm back to hunting. I owe him for that and I hope I have his luck next year. His season went like this. First Blue Marlin 350+pounds(Nantucket, MA), First Moose 714 pounds Dressed 50" spread(Sutton,VT), and Last night first deer with a bow(Nantucket,MA). Lucky Bastard.
I'll be at it again tonight looking to get my first in 15.

Congrats on your first deer!
I hunted out there a couple of years ago. Wow is it thick in there... All I saw were legs & pieces of deer as I tried to get through that scrub oak!
The only deer we saw in the open were in people's yards...!
Fun hunt though. Congrats.
