Default Big ol' monster NY buck...

My uncle brought these pics. over last night. Don't know too much about this deer except that its a gun kill from Chemung County (Elmira area). Some of my dad's friends from work who live in Elmira have been talking about this deer so I'm pretty sure that its legit. I guess its supposed to be a 22-23 pt. in the 215 to 220" range. He certainly has an impressive typical frame. Bucks just don't get much nicer than this in this part of the world. Agghhh...if only more of our bucks could make it to maturity. Anyways, just thought I'd pass along the pics of this truely awesome buck for the rest of the NY hunters on here.

Any of you NY'ers have any info. on this deer?

We have 150 acres in Waverly, NY. I didn't hunt there this year, but will be there next year. One of the hunters took a 150" plus buck off the farm, there are some big bucks up there

Gnarly... Nice deer. Add this one to the monster taken in Mansfield opening day of early archery, and that's all you need to know about whitetail bucks in NYS. For every one of these monsters that are harvested, you can bet another 100 or more like it are never seen.

Buck conditions in NYSare just fine. Asare the deer herds on the whole. Some pockets are certainly in better shape than others, but I would look to habitat for the answersto those differences.

Early returns from the harvest reports show a harvest on par with last year's - Bucks about the same, does running a little higher. That was expected with more DMPs.

What is of note, and pertinent to this thread, is that the bucks are showing a higher than historicallynormal harvest of mature bucks (3.5 - 5.5), especially on the older side. At least this is what I am hearing from the biologists...
