Default PA Bear Hunting

Haven't heard much talk about bear season this year. Anybody going out? I'm going out for my second season, maybe I'll get lucky...HA! Last year my Dad and I did it DIY style on SGL 75 in Lycoming County, but this year a friend of ours is taking us to his camp in Sulivan County where they have an actual group of guys. Should be a great time no matter what.

How about you guys?

I hunt just west of sgl 75 in the tiadaghton state forrest just south of slate run for bear. We probably average 3 bear a year out of there. We have seen a lot of bear this year so it looks to be promising. Hopefully the 500 pounder we saw this summer will still be hanging around and give me a shot. I already took a 415 lb boar there in 99' so it's been awhile. besides, I could use a rug Good luck to ya this year.

I'll be doing the combo deer/bear thing this year. I have two little kids now so I can't take as much time as I used to.

Where are you going in Sullivan County? That's where I hunt. I got a bear there in 1996.

I don't remember the actual name of the group's camp. I know a knick name of it is "Bunny, Buck and Bear"...its made up of Penn State Extension Agents, and been around for a long time. It is located within the triange formed with Highways 87, 154, and 220.

Where are you .308?

I'll be going the first day and the first week of deer in 3D (pike county). I went last year withmy friend and he shot 220 lbs female. We usually have some big males on the property + the neighboring SGL. Good luck to all who go out.

I'm on top of Red Rock Mountain, near Ricketts Glen State Park. We used to have a camp between Dushore and Forksville so I'm familiar with 220 and 87. Nice Country up there.
