Default River Crossing

The place I've been hunting this seasonis across the road from an decent sized river. The river is probably 65-75 yards across, maybe further in a few spots. It flows quite slowly into Lake Ontario and is probably 10-15 feet deep. I am wondering if it is likely that deer would cross thisriver during the rut or any other time of year for that matter to get to the other side. Does anyone have any knowledgeif adeer would crossa riverlike this?Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I grew up in pike co. Il. and every yearIsee several deer swim the Il. river. It's wider, deeper and swifter than yours. Aparently the quest for the affection of a female is greater than any obsticle.

people have seen small herds of deer crossing the black river bay, from sackets harbor to pillar point. i dont see why they wouldnt cross the river. i wouldnt set up expecting them to cross it though.

i have seen one buck following a doe a few minutes behind her sunday morning, saturday my uncle saw a deer he believes to be a button buck following everywhere a doe had been a little while before hand. siad it came in after her with his nose to the ground and went everywhere she went. didnt have a rack, but could have had buttons.

i had an 8pt bust me from like 20 yards this past weekend. came out of nowhere and my rifle was on my lap, stared at me right from the time he showed up, i was frozen, and then he was gone in a flash. im going back out after him next week when i am home for thansgiving break.
