Default Any success hunting in Chenango County NY this year?

I have hunted in Chenango County in the past and had pretty good luck...I was wondering if anyone has taken any nice bucks this year and also if the bucks are in rut yet down there? I cant wait for next weekend got my 12 gauge all sited in and my .35 ready to go....

Any info would be appreciated

Also have any of you ever hunted the Pharsalia management area in 7M?? I have heard it is a good area but never made it over there??

Thanks

I hunt in Chenango, all i've seen so far this season was a 4pt and a spike, and lots of does. That is on private property in guilford. Haven't seen any big guys on my property yet tho.

I was talking to a buddy of mine in Mcdonough and he said they went out spot lighting for deer last weekend and saw between80 and 100 deer in about 45 minutes...A majority of them were does but there was roughly 15-20 small bucks and they saw two nice bucks, one was a 12 pointer with a nice spread. I plan to go down for the opening weekend and hunt..I was able to get a 7M permit and my dad got one so we figure we will give it a try.

When I hunted in Chenango county in fall of 2002 and fall 2003 I ended up filling our party's tags bytaking 5 deer each year, this was my first two years hunting and I have loved it ever since. During those 2 hunting trips I was given the name Elmer Fud by our friend and it has stuck.

I am hoping the weather will chill off a little by next week and the deer are moving....best of luck to you too

Charles

His family has about 70 acres with 50 of them being wooded...a majority of the deer were seen in nearby fields on Chestnut rd, Stone Quarry hill rd, the road leading to Bowman lake state campground, and someof the other side roads off NY220...Theywere seeing between 40-50 deer on average during the end of the summer but he said the deer have been eating in the fields alot more now and the pre-rut is starting to begin. They have seen a few bucks chasing the does and some fresh rubs.

Have you seen alot of signs in Guilford area??

I've seen a few rubs and only one scrape. I talked to one guy at wal mart in norwich and he said he hasn't seen any rubs and everyone he's talked to hasn't seen any either. he was old so i don't how much scouting he actually did. i dunno.
