I went out for an evening hunt today in Southern Albany County- I noticed some activity fairly early 3:00 PM with a doe feeding in a field. About 10 min later a 4 pointer passes me heading for the field- no response to a couple of grunts. About an hour later two does are coming right at my stand- I am at full draw and both of them scatter about 15 yards. Over the hill crest a six pointer- He chasing hard and when I grunt it freezes him in his tracks- at which time he starts thrashing a bush for a little while. He proceed to follow the two does. Needless to say it's great to see that action again..its been slow in 4H for a couple of years.
I've been out for a week straight now and I'd say the rut has started tonight. Any one notice anything in this general area?
im in 3h and the rut has not started in my area yet, atleast during daylight hours.
