Default NJ FISH GAME & WILDLIFE, THEY SUCK

WHO FEELS THAT NJ FISH GAME & WILDLIFE SUCKS, FOR WHAT THEY HAVE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN TO THE DEER HERD HERE IN NJ?

Bowhuntercop: I know you are talking about deer and maybe you have valid points of argument regarding NJFGW policy on deer. HOWEVER: There is more to their work than just deer and I don't think they "suck". From my prespective as a new hunter I am feeling only GRADITUDE towards the NJFGW. I see them as having put together an excellent safety course and as having made it very accessible to me. I see them as having helped preserve a lot more hunting land than I expected in such a small and overdeveloped state. I find the web site very useful and their maps and publications useful as well. And in a part of the US known for "attitude", they are probably the most pleasant state agency that I've ever had to deal with.
One last thing: If you think they "suck" now, wait until the retirements and restructuring that are due to come down the pipe. I'll be missing Mr. McDowell and Co. and maybe you will too.
In the Internet terminology I guess I have just committed to "flamebait" So be it and flame me if you must but this is how I feel.
(sorry for not spell checking this... in a hurry today)

the state sure offers alot of hunting opportunites. i harvested 4 deer last year on state land. these were'nt taken during permit shotgun season in unlimited antlerless zones either.

While I feel that Earn a buck and The slaughter of deer in Jan. and Feb. is uncalled for NJF&G dont "SUCK". There is more hunting oportunity in NJ than most other states. Figure a famous whitetailed deer state like Texas it has 750,000 acres of WMA property, NJ has over 260,000 acres of WMA property consider Texas is 300 times the size of NJ and they only have 2.8 times the of WMA property. Thats prety impressive "dont you think". I hunted a WMA on Friday afternoon I had over 15 deer go bye my stand 3 of them were bucks chasing does. Not to bad in my book. I know how bad some of the zones got I hunted 51 until the Earn abuck and extended doe days started I just moved to another zone, problem solved.

I WROTE THAT THEY SUCK TOWARDS THE FACT OF WHAT THEY DID TO THE DEER HERD, OTHER THEN THAT THEY ARE DOIN A GREAT JOB!!!!!

IAMBOB: YOU STATED YOUR NEW TO HUNTING, WELL IVE BEEN HUNTING FOR MORE THEN 20 YRS, SO PLEASE DONT COMPARE APPLES TO ORANGES. YOU THEN HAVEN'T SEEN WHAT THE DEER HERD IN NJ WENT FROM TO WHAT IT IS TODAY. THEY CALL IT HARVESTING, WELL IM SORRY ITS NOT HARVESTING ITS A SLAUGHTER. THY FORCE HUNTERS TO EARN A BUCK, HELLO WHOS THE TAX PAYERS HERE? IM ALL FOR HARVESTING OF ANTLERLESS DEER, BUT NOT THEY WAY THEY WANT IT DONE FOR LAST 3 YEARS, IT WILL COME BACK TO BITE US IN THE BUTT.

IT BOILS DOWN TO NOT WHAT WE AS HUNTERS WANT, ITS WHAT THE RICH LANDOWNER, INSURANCE COMPANIES WANT DONE. STOP THE EARLY/LATE SEASON HUNTS, STOP THE OVER HARVESTING OF ANTLERLESS DEER.

Now is that anyway for a cop to be talking,(they suck)? I would agree alot of things they do suck, including some, not all, who work for the agency suck. I'll bet the cops who got busted last year for whipping it up during gun season think Fish and Game sucks.<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

My reply;
That's a good point and I've already aknowledged that you may have valid points of argument regarding deer. However when you started this thread of discussion on the board here you did NOT title it &quot;NJFGW DEER POLICY SUCKS&quot;, You titled it &quot;NJ FISH GAME & WILDLIFE, THEY SUCK&quot;. My point is that you, by trying to put your verbal arrows through the suspect apples of NJ deer policy, have run through the oranges, watermelon and Garden State egg plant too! In other words: you opened with a disparaging remark on an AGENCY instead of a POLICY. In your line of work, so dependant on accurate reports being filed, such a blunderbuss of a statement is not what some would like to see!
I do hope you get the deer policy you want however. You've no doubt earned your bucks many times over what with being a cop and all that goes with it.
Sorry to split hairs like this but remember that target identification is very important to us as hunters. We could teach many non-hunters a thing or two.
