I have been scouting a few months now. I start oof driving around before dark with my spotting scope mounted to my window. After a month or 2 i concentrate on the areas where I saw more deer with potential. Last week we got done hanging all of our stands. This weekend i will start sitting along the fields to get some video.

If I wasn't working such a messed up schedule this year I would have been "scouting" all summer long.Patterning deer movement, checking on changes to terrain, checking growth progress of crop and mast, etc.
Normally, by seasons start I know where the most traffic is and where they should be and only have to make educated guesses when the foods change or weather changes and/or seasons change until I pattern again.

I been doing some scouting in one set of woods and have found out the deer are gone...Been out like 8 times in the past months fishing the creek that runs through the woods I hunt in..And have not seen a single deer...I don't think I will be spotting as much as I done last year cause of the gas prices...It would be easy to put75 to 100miles on a night.. I think the spotting aspect will be done only couple nights a week insted of like 4 or 5 times as last year when sept. rolls around..But ,once the fever comes around though it's goanna be hard to say really...Do they have a spotting car pool by chance????

i've had cameras out for about a month now. I have one blurred image of a pretty decent PA buck, a few non-legal bucks and a bunch of does with fawns.......

There are a few buck in our community, they still have velvet. Once they rub it off I'll start scouting. That way I can look for rubs. I think right around the beginning of archery season their patterns change so I usually wait til September.

I've been out scouting a little. I've seen a couple decent bucks, some last year rubs, and have located a couple new stand locations.

Been debating on getting my PA license this yr. Did alot of fishing in Elk county can the deer are just gone. Seen a few here and there but there certainly will be no great days of sitting in a stand and seeing 20-50 deer in 1 day like it used to be. My cousin called me from washington county and told me of a big buck coming out into my aunts yrd to a mineral lick she keeps there to see deer. I took a Cuddyback down Sunday and put it on the mineral lick in the woods on the edge of her yard to see if this buck is worth hunting or letting him go for another yr. I left the camera there for 1 day and figured I will switch cards before I head back to Ohio.Got a small buck and some does and a fawn from there so far. I waiting till Friday to go back down and check it again and decide to buy lisense or not.
