Doherty said bear tracks, of about the same freshness as the track from which the cast was made, also were found on the property. He also said that some aspects of the wounds to the horse - as well as some characteristics of the paw print - are not consistent with evidence of a mountain lion's involvement.
"Right now the bottom line is: we found tracks belonging to a large mammal. But we also found bear tracks in the cornfield,'' Doherty said.

He knows the characteristics of a mountain lion attack...But yet he can't tell if the cast prints are of a bear???He seams like he is trying to confuse people here....
