Default Question for Pa. guys???

I read somewhere that you cannot hunt with semi auto weapons. Is that true?

I have a Rem. .243 semi and Rem. 1100 12 ga.. If what I read is true then I don't think I can hunt deer in the state. I also read that it is flintlock only for muzzleloader.

No semis for deer hunting.
Early muzzleloader is open to basically any front stuffers. Late season, after Xmas is flintlock only.

Semi shotguns are legal for small game.

I also believe semi shotguns are legal for deer in Allegheny Co. only.

That must be the reason that the only guy I know who uses a semi lives in Pittsburgh.I wonder what the rational for that law is?

No semi-autos at all.

Semi-autoshotguns only when used for small game, fur bearer, turkey or unprotected birds.
(didn't find a rider saying whether or not they were legal for deer, so I would have to say assume no. though you can write or email the PA Game Commission to check.)

Flintlock-only during the main/regular season which is just after Christmass. During the early season you can use any muzzleloader, flint, percussion or inline, that fits in the minimum/maximum regs for the season.

Flint, perc or inline.
