I am not sure if this is true or not, but I was told by my taxidermist that for the 2006-07 season the age limit for hunting deer is going to be reduced to 10 years of age. Is this true or is it just another hunting rumor?
A "Mentored Youth Hunt" has been approved but not for deer, at least for the up coming hunting season. There is information on the PGC website on this. Look at the recent press releases. Deer was not approved this year because there is no method for controlling how many deer could be taken by mentored youth hunters and what impact it would have. They are saying once POS licensing is established MYH for deer is a go.
I just read about it in the local paper. As T mentioned the youth mentor hunting program was approved for squirrels and one or two other species but not deer. Deer would supposedly be introduced for the 2007-2008 hunting season. There is no minimum age but there are quite a few specific requirements.
