Default Snowshoe Hares - Who has them

20 years ago - we used to have a small Snowshoe hare population - I even took a few in central NY. They were never really common in my area of Central NY - but it was nice to see them in the young pines once in a while. We use to go up to Poland Ny - and hunt them there - they had a real population.

I haven't seen sign of any near me in 15 years. - Do you all have them? - What General area?

Thanks
FH

I have seen a few near Devils Tombstone. It is located next to Hunter mountain in the Catskills.

Ontario is full of the little white speedsters. Couple beagles, snowshoes and a shotgun full of #5 shot = good fun !!!!!!

I've been somewhat encouraged by what I've seen in Norhtern Vermont and Central New Hampshire lately. Far more then the past few years but still way down from twenty years ago. I've been blaming the increase of the coyote population because few people hunt them anymore.

Rabbits go in cycles,
When i decide to go rabbit hunting,
tends to be at their lowpoint,
When i stop hunting rabbits they usually peak,

We got a few in parts of the ANF. Last one I saw was last year in Buzzard Swamp.

I see tracks everywhere when I'm walkin through the woods and theres snow on the ground..they're there but they're really good at hide and seek.
