Mass hunter here. Looking to hunt other NE states to extend my gun season in 2006. VT, NH, CT, NY, PA, NJ, ME?? Just curious of your opinions. With all the complaining I see hereabout how much NJ,PA and NY sucks now, what state would you choose if you where in my shoes??
NY still looks good to me for density, Maine for monsters.

RE: So what is the best deer state in the Northeast??
I like Northern Maine and northern New Hampshire public land hunting. Big country and you can track all day without seeing another hunter. I didn't go to those states this year but hunted NY iand Newfoundland instead. Don't go to Vt, I live there and it is bad.

Thats the one great thing I hear about North NH and Maine. Lots of ROOM.Not heavy deer densities, butbig animals too.I fish inVT allot, and although I see a few deer around. I know that its not the best location these days. That isunless you have good private land in SW VT, or in Alburg/ ChampIslands area. Is that not the case anymore?? I still see allot of does in SW VT especially. The rest of the state (VT)seems way to low on deer...
