This buck was killed about a mile and a half up the road from my house on the last afternoon of gun season. The rackhasn't been scored yet...but he's around 18" inside with both bases being over 6".I'm guessing he'llnet in the low 150's (kinda hard to tell from the "Chuck Adams" style pose.) Ihad seen thisbuckon a few occasionsover the past several years...with the last sighting being inlate summerof 2003.Later that fall one of my uncles had him standing 15 yards away while on a deer drive but couldn't shoot due to safety reasons. I actually think he had longer tines that year. Anyways, Iwas beginning to wonder whether or not he was still around after two years without a sighting. My uncle found one of his sheds while turkey hunting in the spring of 2002 only a few hundred yards from where he was eventually harvested. If you doubled the score of that one side and added a 17" spread...he would have grossedright around 140", meaning he was at least 3.5 in 2001.Its pretty cool...that shed is almost an exact replica of this years antler, although its of a smaller scale. Based on this evidence, I'm guessing that this deer is 7.5 to 8.5 yrs. old which is incredible for such a hard hunted area. I'd hate to guess what percentage of buck in the state make it to this age, buts its gotta under 1%. Hopefully, hefathered his share of fawns over the past 5 or 6 years.
